ABOUT US

Koffi Bona Apedjinou is Founder and President of “Mon Pays,” an organization focused on raising awareness and support for Togo, West Africa to help it become a democratic and prosperous country.  Koffi brings to this effort a life-long passion for social justice and freedom for all people, and a long-standing commitment and leadership role in enlightening and unifying the Togo community across the globe

A native of Togo, Koffi grew up under the oppressive regime of then Dictator Gnassingbe. He was fortunate to have had parents who sacrificed all they had to ensure that he would have a strong private Christian education and training in Bible studies.  Koffi’s religious teachings and first-hand experience with political injustices shaped the person he is today, and was the impetus for his commitment to social welfare and civil rights which began more than 20 years ago.  Some of his earlier efforts to raise awareness and combat Gnassingbe’s political oppression included his contributions to multiple clandestine political movement manifestos; his creating the youth group “Association des jeunes democrates de Tokoin Gbonvie”; and his role in the front line in the 1991 popular uprising on the campus of the University of Benin (now University of Lome) fighting for amnesty for all political refugees, democracy and a multi-party. Koffi was also a founder member of the political party of Agboyibor (CAR) and very vocal voice in the organization’s youth, committed to the agenda of helping the less fortunate in the country.

While still residing in Togo, Koffi received an Associate Degree in Business Management in Lome, and worked for 6 years in management positions in the private sector import and export business. Koffi was granted asylum in the United States in 2002, and moved to Denver, Colorado, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from National American University and a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Regis University.  Koffi has been on the management team for Frontier Airlines in Colorado for more than 8 years before landing a job as Revenue Accountant, and he is a devoted husband and father of 4 children.

During his 12-year tenure in the United States, while furthering his professional credentials, Koffi maintained his enthusiasm, commitment and leadership to the Togo community – both in the US and back home in West Africa. He has been a staunch advocate for unity within his community, and started several non-profit organizations including the Togolese Association of Colorado, of which he was President for two terms.  He also serves on the community leadership team of the umbrella Colorado African Organization, which provides the African community information and training to ease their social, financial, educational, and political integration into American society.  In addition, Koffi held the position of Executive Director for the World Togolese Foundation for the past two years, driving efforts to provide financial and social support to orphans and children in Togo. Needless to say, Koffi is well known and held in high regard within his community, and has earned the respect of the leadership of other African organizations for his ongoing compassion, influence and service. Koffi has exhibited unwavering leadership in unifying the US Togolese community, and in spearheading efforts to give back to the community in Africa.  Koffi also continues to be a visionary preacher of the Gospel, providing tireless effort in giving support and comfort to those in need.  Koffi is a true patriot who has remained steadfast in his life’s mission to see Togo become a democratic country, and to witness the people of Togo have true freedom with sustainable opportunities for personal, educational and financial success.
